A student union is a student association run by, and with students. To get what is called the Union Status, the association needs to be submitted to the university where it operates and a decicion will be made by the board of the university. If the association receives the Union Status, it is also assigned the task of representing the students vis-à-vis the university in various groups, committees and bodies. We at the Student Union of Borås are thus tasked, with Union Status, to represent the students' cause inside the University of Borås.
The University of Borås has a document that describes how many student unions the university has chosen to sign an agreement with and which can thus gain Union Status. In Borås, the Union Status can only be assigned to one (1) student association, which as of the next couple of years is the Student Union of Borås.
The Student Union in Borås (SiB) is a political student association based in Borås. The student union is religiously and party-politically independent. We are there for you who study at the University of Borås during their study period and support you through the program.
Fullmäktige [FUM]
är Studentkåren i Borås högst beslutande organ och föreningens främsta
strategiska organ. Ledamöter i FUM är med och tar beslut om:
Styrande dokument; däribland stadga och reglemente som kan innefatta vår grafiska profil, riktlinjer och policys,
Kårstyrelsen; som i februari/mars varje år väljs in för kommande verksamhetsår,
Organisationens budget; som ger kårstyrelse och kansli en riktlinje för vad man har att röra sig med under verksamhetsårets gång och
Studentrepresentanter; vilka som för studentrörelsens röst.
Fullmäktige består av som mest 21 ledamöter där varje sektion har rätt att vara representerade med upp till 7 ledamöter +7 ersättare. FUM träffas två (2) gånger per termin och som ledamot lägger du omkring 15 timmar/år för mötestid och inläsning av handlingar.
På våra Fullmäktigesammanträden är alla studenter välkomna!
Ledamöter har närvaro- yttrande- buddys rösträtt, medlemmar i SiB har närvaro- och yttranderätt och alla studenter vid Högskolan i Borås har närvarorätt.
Vi söker nu ledamöter till nästa års fullmäktige.

The office consists of employees, the chairman and vice-chairman of the union board and paid students. All manage the day-to-day operations, whose task is to support the Student Union in Borås and maintain the agreements with the University of Borås.
Kårstyrelsen är det högst beslutande organet mellan fullmäktigesammanträdena och är fullmäktiges verkställande organ. Kårstyrelsen har även i uppdrag att efterfölja och genomföra de beslut som fullmäktige fattar samt att bereda de ärenden som ska behandlas i fullmäktige, och ansvarar för SiBs fortlöpande arbete.
As a student, you can sit on the union board alongside your studies, without working full-time! Some full-time workers (presidium) sit on the union board, they are either on study break or have finished their studies. The union board is elected annually by the members of the Student Union in Borås and works from July 1st to June 30th.

The student union in Borås has three subsidary bodies which are linked to three corresponding faculties at the University of Borås. The sections are a good place to start with influencing your education and student life. During the introduction, the student buddies come from the three sections and the color of their shirts shows which section they belong to.

Studentkåren i Borås är en medlemsstyrd organisation med säte i Borås.
Under the Student Union in Borås are a few committees. They are not connected to any section, but gather students with a particular interest in sports, sustainability or who are studying at postgraduate level. Historically, there have been several different committees. Do you think there is someone missing? Get in touch with the union board!
Kommittéen för alla som studerar på forskar nivå. Studenter på forskarnivå kallas för doktorander och har annorlunda förutsättningar gentemot studenter på kandidat- och masternivå. De har allt som oftast en doktorandanställning, och är alltså både studneter och anställda samtidigt.

Kommittéen för alla som gillar att sporta. Studentsport träffades en gång i veckan och utförde olika sporter tex fotboll, volleyboll och massa annat skoj!
